Roof valleys are harder because they bring two roof planes together.

The valley rafter runs diagonally where the planes meet. Jack rafters have to be cut at different lengths and angles so they can land properly into the valley.

This area also collects load from both sides of the roof.

That means the cuts, spacing, and support points all have to be precise.

From the outside, a roof valley may look simple.

But underneath, it is one of the most complex parts of the frame.
