The second amendment was put in place to allow the people the right to bear arms in order to give the people the ability to militarily stand up to an oppressive government. (as the US people had just done against the British, in their fight for independence). This concept has been out dated for a long time and the price is too high to have assault weapon so easily available to mentally unstable individuals. The time has come to band the easy access to assault weapons.

A week ago 26 people lost their lives by simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I have a 4 and 6 year old and this shooting really hits home to me every time I send them to school. My heart goes out to the families affected but such a tragedy.
