Can five dollars really change your life?

I was on my way to a coffee shop to get some work done

There was an old bookstore on the way and something told me to make a stop

I was standing in front of the recipe books when I saw the book that changed my life

For about a year, I had been wondering about the topic of personal power - how to have more agency & stop letting circumstances dictate my life

As I stood there, this book fell on me

The title: Personal Power

I was stunned

How did a book on the exact topic I’ve been looking for literally fall into my lap?

You may not be aware of this, but many of you have been trying to lead in a masculine way, energetically speaking.

Masculine leadership looks like this: divide & conquer, set aside your emotions, constantly try to better yourself rather than accepting yourself as you are, keep going even when you need rest, ignore your body and be productive at all cost.

You think this is leadership, but it isn’t.
This is replication of a patriarchal world concept, and even though you hate the patriarchy, you’re accidentally perpetuating.

The matriarchy was built on cycles. There are cycles of productivity & rest. Nature doesn’t bloom all year. Business doesn’t grow all year. Every year of our lives isn’t dedicated to productivity.

Feminine leadership is a product of the matriarchy. Here we honour the cycles of nature and the cycles of our body. We honour the cycles created by our hormones. We honour menstruation. We honour the flashes of heat in menopause.

Feminine leadership means to honour your femininity whatever that looks like for you. Be proud of it.

Don’t make your emotions wrong. Don’t make yourself wrong. Stop thinking if you were a man you’d have it better. No. You’re rebuilding a new earth. Feminine leadership is a big part of this.

So what does this mean in practical terms?

It means when you need rest, you rest. It means you do not sacrifice your wellbeing in the name of growing your business or making more money. You get smart and outsource things. You put systems in place. You create a team of people you hire to support you.

You grow your business on the principles of connection, community, generosity & empathy, not on extraction, capitalization, manipulation, or hoarding of wealth.

Your wealth is not yours anyway, you can’t take it with you. Use it to restructure broken systems, use it for repair & restoration of people, land, animals. You will be given more money than you could ever imagine, your needs will be met and beyond if you decide to use money as a vehicle for repair.

Feminine leadership is the understanding that we’re not separate from others or from the land, we are one. We’re connected. What impacts one person impacts another. Your work isn’t separate from that.

You’ve been taught to build by extraction, amass wealth & then use an exit strategy - but that’s not it, not for you anyway. You’re not Jef Bezos.

You build with people. Your life is infinitely tied to the people you’re here to serve. They don’t go away. The need doesn’t go away. There won’t be a time when you can make an exit & sip pina coladas on the beach - you won’t want to. Even when you’re on the beach you will think about your people. You were sent on earth to assist these people.

We don’t rest after we’ve made all the money we want. We rest with & during & after and we build with & during & after. There is no place you have to arrive. You are here. You have arrived. Let’s get to work.

You didn’t come here to settle for less.

You know what you want - the life, the business, the family, the money.

But you pretend not to know. You avoid getting specific. You feel like you’re going to barf if someone talks about goal setting.

You won’t admit what you want to yourself. You constantly lie to yourself.

“Hmm do I really want a $1m business? Maybe I don’t. Why do I try so hard?”

“Do I really want to be the kind of person who can afford annual vacations to Greece?”

“Maybe I’m not cut out for this [insert your dreamiest dreams].”

And I get it. When we have been disappointed in the past, we learn to lower our expectations.

The thing is, the universe is a Yes for what you want.

But you’re the one who keeps negotiating.

The universe has shown you the solutions, the books, the insights & the people who can help you, but you keep ignoring it all.

Nobody in the sky said you can’t have what you want.

It’s always us - our limitations. Our beliefs. Our insistence on “making do” vs. letting it get better than we could ever imagine.

The first step is to be honest with yourself.

Stop saying you don’t want something when you do.
Stop pretending like you don’t really care.
Stop saying “I’m good where I am” when you know you want more.

Allow yourself to want it. Commit to creating it. No more looking back.

When I asked my client how much money she’d like to have in her account she said $100k.

We talked about her mission, her vision & desires: travel around the world, host VIP days in Paris, pay off her mom’s debt, write a big cheque to a children’s charity.

When we did the math she realized $100k wasn’t enough.

The message was clear.

Ask for more.

But often people are doing the opposite.

You’re asking for as little as possible from the belief that there isn’t enough.

There’s more than enough money in the world for you to manifest your vision. If you spend some there will be more. If you lose some, it will be replenished. When someone pays you, more is sent to them. Money doesn’t run out. It’s a replenishable resource.

Money wants to move through people who care & want to give back.
