That’s a wrap!!!!
Recording for our new album is complete. Holy s**t. We ripped the space time continuum again to completely capture the magic of these songs and humans. So full. So grateful. Wow wow wow.
Thank you thank you thank you.
Much is afoot.
What’s in your old notebooks?
Finally feeling slightly more myself again after being absolutely decimated by sickness. Still have a cough, mucus in my lungs and lingering wheeze. This illness not only physically decimated me it super charged grief and depression.
Ever since Bodie (my beloved cat and familiar) left I come to look out our back window. It’s a ritual of sorts where I Iook for him and remember him in his favourite spots. Because he’s been gone for over 6 months now our backyard has been reclaimed by so many birds. I’m so grateful for their presence. I feel so lucky they choose to be around. The squirrels too give me so much and on warm days can be spotted racing, chasing and playing with each other. This land is magic and I’ve always been able to feel that despite living in a busy city.
Another thing in this space that truly inspires me and fills me up are the remainder of things from when this was my kiddos room. On the wall I had put up postcards purchased years ago in Mexico City, by Remedios Varo. I fell in love with the whimsical, mystical and haunting style. When Fen saw them for the first time years ago they promptly named them. I thought it was so cool they did this because it was completely their own idea and showed such beautiful unfiltered creative thinking.
To this day they remember the titles they gave the paintings…their memory is off the charts. Today I share them with you as this window into a young mind and the joy it brings me.
As I type this out I keep looking at my three mourning Dove pals sun bathing amongst the dry leaves and then a Cooper’s hawk flew over head. The Junkos are fliting around picking at the ground and barely stop moving. The other day a cardinal looked like they were crawling through the grape vines.
If you are in a similar boat feeling just done in, know my heart goes out to you and I am sending you love. If you can, find a bird and simply watch them. I promise it will help. It might not change or fix things, but remember there’s magic still. Thank them for appearing to you. They’re such special beings.
If you are around children, encourage their creativity. Let them remind you of your own and be curious what excites them.
