Wonderful to join more than 500 Hamiltonians yesterday to kick off Seniors Month and celebrate the incredible contributions older adults make to our community every day.

Thank you to Staff, the exhibitors, volunteers, sponsors and community partners who helped make this event possible, and to the seniors who have helped build Hamilton through their leadership, service and dedication.

As nearly 30 per cent of our population is over the age of 55, continuing to build an age-friendly city where people can stay active, connected and age with dignity is important for all Hamiltonians.

Wishing everyone a happy Seniors Month!

Access to primary care is one of the most important issues facing families across our community, which is why today’s announcement is such welcome news for Hamiltonians.

I was pleased to join MPP Monica Ciriello and our healthcare partners as the Ontario government announced a nearly $5 million investment that will help connect more than 10,000 residents across Hamilton, Haldimand and Niagara Northwest to a family doctor or primary care team.

This investment means more than just a number. It means greater peace of mind for people and families who have been searching for access to care. It means shorter wait times, more coordinated services, and better health outcomes.

As Hamilton continues to grow, investments like this are essential to ensuring our healthcare system grows alongside our city. Strong primary care helps people receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time, while also relieving pressure on hospitals and emergency departments.

Thank you to the Ontario government, MPP Monica Ciriello, the Hamilton Family Health Team, the Greater Hamilton Health Network, and the healthcare professionals and community partners whose collaboration is helping ensure more residents can access comprehensive, team-based care close to home.

Together, we are building a healthier community and improving quality of life for Hamiltonians.

June is National Indigenous History Month, an opportunity to honour the histories, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Metis and Inuit Peoples.

Here in Hamilton, this month is an opportunity to reflect on the truth of our shared history and the ongoing work of reconciliation through respect, relationships, and action. Indigenous Peoples have cared for these lands and waters since time immemorial, and their leadership, knowledge, resilience, and cultural traditions continue to shape our community in meaningful ways.

I encourage Hamiltonians to support Indigenous voices, artists, businesses, and community events throughout the month and to continue learning about the histories and experiences of Indigenous Peoples in our city and across Canada.

To Indigenous community members across Hamilton: thank you for your leadership, contributions, and continued strength.
