I love connecting yoga to the journey of life.

Some days I show up to my mat steady,
some days I shake and wobble through my practice.
I’ve learned that just showing up is what truly matters. The intention to meet myself there, giving myself the time, attention, and space to simply be.
I carry this with me off the mat too, as I move through life.

Where in your life are you still showing up, even when it feels hard?

I was listening to a podcast where they talk about how our nervous system responds to space, movement, and environment and it made me think about how often we try to force calm.

But regulation doesn’t usually happen through forcing.
It happens through slowing down enough to feel what’s actually there.

I’ve noticed this in small moments like being near water, or stepping into something open and quiet where my body just starts to settle.

It doesn’t need pressure, just space to soften.

Some tips I would give to someone who’s just starting their fitness journey(or actually trying to make it stick this time🫣)

1. Find a movement routine you enjoy
Don’t force yourself to run if you hate running. Find a type of movement you actually enjoy—whether that’s hiking, dancing, swimming, or Pilates. The best routine is the one you look forward to, not the one you dread.

2. Rest is important too
Rest is just as important as movement. Especially when starting something new, it’s easy to go all in—but your body needs time to recover. Take your sleep seriously, and schedule rest days like you do workouts.

3. Don’t forget nutrition
Fuel your body well. Movement and nutrition go hand in hand—your body needs energy to move, recover, and thrive. Start small: add more whole foods, drink water, and prioritize protein. Progress, not perfection.

4. Set goals
Set small, realistic goals. Whether it’s walking 3x a week or drinking more water, having a goal keeps you focused. Try using SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-based) to set yourself up for success—without the stress.

5. Enjoy the process
Make it enjoyable. Fitness is a journey, not a finish line. Involve friends, celebrate small wins, and be kind to yourself along the way. When you enjoy the process, you’re more likely to stick with it.
