On Friday, MDR Strategy Group's Director of Public Engagement and AI Strategy, Melissa Peneycad, facilitated an in-depth workshop on AI in the non-profit sector. Together, we built a shared understanding of AI, explored new tools to assess workplace needs, and examined how AI can support (and challenge) the work of non-profits.

Through open discussion, we surfaced common pain points, identified practical solutions, and reframed our mindset around AI by taking a responsible, human-centred approach that considers both its benefits and risks of AI use in the non-profit space.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to learn, share, and strengthen knowledge in this rapidly evolving space.

Today is Emancipation Day, a day commemorating the abolition of slavery in Canada and across the British Empire.

We acknowledge that Black communities, along with Indigenous Peoples and other racialized groups, continue to face systemic racism and inequities across institutions. As a professional services social enterprise, our work is rooted in community-driven leadership to serve the public proactively and drive meaningful social impact.

MDR is a 100% Black-owned firm, grounded in the values of Afrocentric leadership. We remain committed to walking alongside our clients and partners to help build systems that are fair, inclusive, and accountable.
