I am an avid walker and love to spend time on my weekends putting in steps in the great outdoors, with my strollmate (aka walking partner). On average, we walk 8-10 km a day. We didn't start out walking that far. With discipline and consistency, we conditioned ourselves to go the distance and we enjoy the health benefits that comes from movement, community and fresh air. I have a background in economic development and my very first role in economic development was managing the North Huron Chamber of Commerce. I had the pleasure of working with so many passionate and hardworking business owners. As the manager, I was responsible for the bookkeeping of the organization and financial reporting to the Board of Directors. While I have been actively bookkeeping now for over 7 years, my bookkeeping experience actually spans over two decades!

When I told my kids I was starting a bookkeeping business, they replied "So, like a librarian?"
The truth is that many people, even business owners, do not understand what bookkeeping is.
Let's say your business is a car. Money is the fuel and bookkeeping is the dashboard.
The speedometer - that's your revenue and sales. It increases as cash flows into your business.
The fuel gage - that's your cash flow. It tells you how much cash you have left to keep your business running.
The temperature gauge - that's your expenses. If you're engine's overheating, your expenses are too high and your profits are dropping.
The warning indicator lights - they alert you to issues, which in your business can be related to compliance, inventory management, tax and other deadlines, for example. Paying attention to these can prevent breakdowns.
A business without bookkeeping is like driving a car without a dashboard. It is essential to get you and your business to where you want to go.
