Showing up for yourself feels really effing good.

This is what 19 months weed-free looks like after smoking since I was 20 years old.
This is what regulating your nervous system looks like.
This is what finally choosing yourself looks like.

Two decades of numbing myself out.
Two decades of pushing trauma down so I didn’t have to feel it anymore.
Two decades of not being fully present.
Two decades of my nervous system being completely hijacked.

And now at 43… all that unresolved trauma decided to come up. And it came in hawtttt. Add hormones and life doing what life does, and wow… what a ride.

I used to beat myself up over the time I thought I wasted. Thinking about all the ways I could have shown up better for myself and for the people I love.

But inside all of that… were lessons.
Awareness.
Accountability.
Forgiveness.
Growth.

Over the last year and a half, I’ve been rebuilding the most important relationship I’ll ever have — the one with myself.

And what I’m realizing is… once you stop abandoning yourself, everything else starts to shift too.

Awareness has been my biggest takeaway. Because once you become aware, you can’t unsee it anymore. And that’s where the real healing begins.
