Whenever my brother and I randomly talk about TikTok trends we’re seeing on our feeds, we sometimes realize we’re seeing entirely different feeds. What’s trending on his isn’t necessarily trending on mine, and vice versa.
Because according to the algorithm, we have very different interests and fall in two different categories.
That’s the reality of algorithms—it’s becoming more and more catered to the specific user.
So, as a business, if you’re wondering if you should jump on that trend, here’s two questions to ask yourself first.

If you’re wondering how to offer value in the digital space, whether it’s social media or email, there’s really one thing you need to figure out before posting anything—
What are their pain points?
What are they struggling with?
What do they need help with?
The reason why we consume content, why we buy things, is because we’re looking for the answer to our problems, the solution to our issue.
Or we’re looking for something to help us achieve our goals, or attain our ideal life.
When you’re posting, that’s what you need to zone in on. That’s how you provide value.

This is why people hate email subscriptions. It’s become all about sales and promotion. 👎
I’m not saying you shouldn’t be sending out promotional emails, but if that’s the only type of email you’re sending out, then it’s time to rethink your email campaigns. 💭
Whereas social media is both building awareness and community, email marketing can be a lot more about building community than generating awareness.
The people on your email list are already aware of your brand—they’ve signed up for your email list somehow.
So, take the opportunity to educate, entertain, or connect with your audience. It’s not just about selling to them.
