I can’t remember how many times I’ve heard “boys will be boys” when my son is being loud, running around, playing with traditional and unconventional “boy toys”, or being rough.
My son also happens to love pink, had long hair until he donated it, plays with dolls and dollhouses.
“Boys will be boys” is NOT an excuse to not be kind to others. At the same time we need to teach our girls that when someone is mean to her it means that they have a crush on her. Abuse is NOT a sign of love, that is not how you love someone.
I made this shirt for my son, to remind him of anyone who looks at him that “boys will be boys” is not an acceptable statement. Girls and especially boys, can be raised as kind humans. Nothing is an excuse not to be kind to others.
