Hey Art friends!

I wanted to share a new drawing I made today of the Cornwall Community Museum. I spent the day drawing in Lamoureux Park at the Plein Air Artists Event put on by local artist Pierre Giroux in collaboration with the artists from L'Association Focus Art Association. It was very fun to meet other local creatives, sitting outside on a perfect day to draw from real life and discuss art. Yesterday I also had the opportunity to tour the museum with Don Smith, Brent Whitford - two cool dudes. See if you can spot SD&G Historical Society President, Dona Cruickshank in the drawing. Hey art friends!

Today I had a great experience. In February my new friend, Kelly Barnhart hired me to draw her employer of 19 years, Stephen Renner’s home at 223 Second Street East in Cornwall, Ontario. Stephen has been a lawyer in Cornwall for 52 years and today I had the wonderful opportunity to surprise him with this new artwork on his 79th birthday. Stephen purchased the home in 1979 from Cornwall’s “First Lady” Mary Mack who’s Grandfather built and gifted to Mary’s mother and father in 1910. When Stephen first moved into the home he hired Bill Rae’s, Long Sault Construction to do the first renovations.

It was so nice to present this art to Stephen and we sat and had great conversation over cake a coffee along with Kelly and Stephen’s other friend and employee Bonnie. The only direction I had when making the art was to make sure to include the pesky squirrel that gets into the attic every year. Kelly had the drawing beautifully framed also. What a great day! Nate
