🇨🇦 Honoring Remembrance Day in Canada 🇨🇦

Today, on November 11th, we pause to honor the courage, dedication, and sacrifices made by countless Canadian soldiers, veterans, and all those who have served to protect our freedom.

Remembrance Day, observed across Canada, is a time to reflect on the bravery and resilience of those who fought in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions. At 11:00 a.m., Canadians observe two minutes of silence to remember those who gave their lives for our country.

Why We Wear the Poppy 🌺
The poppy has become a powerful symbol of remembrance, inspired by the poem "In Flanders Fields". Wearing the poppy shows our respect for fallen soldiers and our commitment to remembering their sacrifices.

Today, let’s unite in gratitude and pay our respects to those who serve and protect. We remember not only their bravery but also the resilience of families and communities affected by war.

Lest We Forget.

Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Today is a day to honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

We must acknowledge this tragic and painful part of our history and ongoing impacts of residential schools in order to move forward and repair the harm.

Whether you are in Canada or hoping to be here one day today and every day is a good day to educate ourselves on what happened in residential schools. There are many available resources to learn about the unique history, languages, cultural practices, and spiritual beliefs of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 7 territory, the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Nations, including Siksika (Sick-sick-ah), Piikani (Pee-can-ee), and Kainai (Kigh-a-nigh), the Tsuut’ina (Soot- ina **a bit of a stop after the t), Nation and Stoney Nakoda First Nations. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.

I have come to know so many exemplary women in my life and in my work as an immigration consultant. Immigrant mothers give up so much of their comfort and face the unknown for the well being of their children, for a brighter tomorrow... my own Mother did that for me. I am forever grateful for not only the life she gave me but for all the sacrifices she made along the way. It’s a mother thing, and once you become a mother it makes sense, (even when it doesn’t).

Here’s sending you much love if you’re not physically near your Mother today. Much love and strength if you’re not near your children today.
💐
Love knows no boundaries, you’re always near where you need to be. 💖
