We were awarded this design build project fulfilling the following requirements:
• Space to connect kids with nature
• Use of high quality and low maintenance natural materials
• Play space that contributes to creating a sense of place for the community
• Appeal to a range of age groups
• Non-structured approach to play
• CSA approved surfacing (engineered wood fiber)
• Barrier between play area and skateboard park
• Play space visible from surrounding park areas
• Four play elements that are functional year-round
• Blend play space with existing landscape

The project was complex with dealing with a custom design that had to be approved by multiple stakeholders, have geotechnical and structural engineering work performed and playground independent inspections provided to meet the Town of Banff’s requirements. This with working in a National park and during a lot of winter conditions and rocky ground conditions proved a tough challenge that we met.
