The most common question we get about mass timber DLT: how does it stack up on cost?
The honest answer — it depends on whether DLT is designed into the project from the start, not swapped in after the fact. When it is, it can be fully competitive, and often more cost effective than conventional materials.
Three quick examples from our own projects:
🔹 Lower snow loads → longer spans → more dramatic interior, no cost premium
🔹 2,500 sq ft installed and watertight in a single day — vs. days longer with traditional timber rafters and T&G
🔹 2x4 at a higher structural grade instead of 2x6 — better performance, lower material cost
Add in faster installation, less equipment on site, fast turnaround at ITF, and long-term energy savings for the building owner — and the full picture gets compelling fast.
The design is where it starts. We'll handle the rest.
