Twenty years ago, Calgary Fringe began with a simple idea: give artists the freedom to create and audiences the chance to experience something unexpected.

Today, we’re proud to be known as the Hugging Fringe, where artists and audiences are welcomed with open arms.

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Calgary Fringe and our place in a global community of Fringe festivals.

For 20 years we’ve championed the values that make Fringe unique:

* 20 years of Fringing in Calgary
* 9 days of live theatre comedy music dance and more
* 100% of the base ticket price goes directly to artists
* Open access with artists selected by lottery
* 6 guaranteed performances for every Fringe Managed Venue production

Today we celebrate the artists who take creative risks the volunteers and staff who make it happen the audiences who say yes to something new and our fellow Fringe festivals around the world.

🚨 Stay Scam Smart 🚨

We’ve recently learned that scammers have been impersonating some Fringe Festivals by creating fake social media accounts, emails, online forms, and invoices.

While this has NOT affected Calgary Fringe, we want our community to know what to watch for and how to protect themselves.

If you ever receive a message or payment request claiming to be from Calgary Fringe that doesn’t seem right, don’t hesitate to reach out before responding.
