Calgary Opera is hosting a "Peek Behind the Curtain" series and the session this Wednesday is all about costume design for Opera. Sharing this in case it's of interest to any of our followers!

The event is Wednesday evening at 7 PM at Mamdani Centre (13 Ave & 7 St SW). Tickets are $25 and are available from Calgary Opera: calgaryopera.com

"Dressed to Impress: Outfitting the Opera Singer" For over a decade, the woman responsible for creating some of Calgary Opera’s most iconic looks has been Head of Wardrobe Heather Moore. With over 30 years of experience in opera and film, Heather is known for her attentiveness to every artist’s needs and unwavering commitment to production quality. Heather has been honoured with multiple industry accolades including the 2023 Betty Mitchell Award for Calgary Opera’s celebrated new production of Macbeth.

In this engaging talk, revisit some of Calgary Opera’s most iconic looks while gaining expert insights into costume design and ex*****on. You’ll also have a chance to connect with like-minded costume afficionados and enjoy up close the visual splendour of costumes built for the largest stages in town.

I sewed up a little from for a nice linen set I got lots of use of on holiday! And thanks to a very amazing friend for the perfect new sewing labels I’ll be using all the time!!
