YYC Disc Golf

Last month, I had the opportunity and pleasure of travelling to Casablanca, Morocco š²š¦ to meet with Tariq Benchrifa, the founder of the Moroccan Disc Golf Federation.
The impetus of the trip was to donate some discs and the first known portable basket to kick start efforts to grow the game in Morocco. We were also able to work together to get the first UDisc dot listed on the map and teach the first known clinic in the country's history!
The Dynamic Discs Scout Basket came from the generous support of the Calgary Disc Golf Community (CDGC). Thank you! Other discs were donated by MDG Media from Belgium and training manuals from Uplay Disc Golf.
We are so lucky to have what we have here in šØš¦ and amazing to be able to share a few of our resources in budding communities around the world that really need it. I've experienced first hand the instant smiles and tears of joy (literally) to those that receive them.
Those few discs also often represent more than the entire week's worth of disposable income for a hardworking local family.
Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have taken approximately 1,000 discs to Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Morocco in the past three years.
Our duty to grow this sport and community is global.
I will continue to do this as long as Iām travelling and disc golfing.
Next stop - Bogota, Colombia! šØš“
If you have some unused discs, just wanting to take flight in another country around the world, please contact me. Happy to collect them on behalf of our global partners.
Even better, on your next journey, leave some discs and truly change lives (including your own) around the world.

On behalf of the City of Calgary Parks and Open Spaces and the Calgary Disc Golf Club, I am pleased to announce that the switch to the Baker Park Disc Golf Course Silver layout is scheduled to take place today, on Thursday, August 29.
As a part of the re-opening, 18 new DGA Mach 7 baskets will be going in to replace the old Baker baskets! Huge thank you to the City of Calgary, DGA, James Koizumi and Dustin Keegan Designs for making this possible.
Please be advised that every effort will be made to ensure that part of the course will be open during this time. The front 9 will be closed first to facilitate the complete removal of the front 9 Red layout baskets, before installing the Silver front 9 baskets. Once the Silver Layout front 9 baskets are fully installed, and signage is removed, it will become open for play. At this point, crews will close the back 9 to begin work on the changeover process. When the back 9 Silver baskets are fully installed and the closure signage is removed, the full course will be open for play. Stay tuned for some additional announcements on some additional fall work at Baker on some teepads.
Safety of the workers is the primary importance and please consider playing another course on this day or please do not attempt to play a closed section of the course until the process for those 9 baskets is complete. Follow the signage and allow for a smooth changeover.
Thank you to the City of Calgary for their continued partnership and support of the disc golf community. Their commitment to sustainability and enhancements in the park have allowed for Baker Park to be one of the world's most popular and enjoyed courses [www.udisc.com].
