2022 Record-High 5.2 Million Applications Processed

As of November, the IRCC has processed approximately 5.2 million applications, nearly double the 2.5 million processed last year. In the past four months, the IRCC has reduced its application inventory by nearly half a million and lowered application wait times for all programmes.

On January 1, 2023, the application period for the last year of the Canada Agri-Food Pilot Program will open. The three-year test run that began in 2021 is already winding down.

There has been no word on whether or not the Canadian immigration service would continue the test programme. The planned duration of the pilot programme ends in May of 2023.

The Agri-Food Pilot Program provides a path to permanent residency for experienced, non-seasonal workers in designated industries and vocations.

Under this trial scheme, permanent residency will be granted to just 2,750 individuals. A first-come, first-served approach will be used to evaluate applications.
