The Allergen Free Kitchen
If you have an allergy to mollusc, shellfish, or seafood you may not realise that this classic Canadian cocktail contains CLAMS.
Camaro juice is a mix of tomato juice, spices, and clam juice or clam powder. Very popular in Canada and often suggested as a V8 replacement only Clamato contains clams.
The Canadian version of a certain tomato-ey Mary Cocktail is called a Caesar cocktail. The Caesar is made with the clam containing clamato juice, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, and vodka.
If you are travelling around Canada this summer make sure you know what is in your cocktail!
We don’t have a ton of options for ranch mixes where we are. We make our own.
It is perfect to add in any recipe you’d add ranch mix. I love to add it in to breading, with a bit a dairy free cream cheese as a sandwich spread, or with dairy free sour cream for a ranch dip!
Homemade Ranch Packet Mix
1 Cup Dairy Free Milk Powder, coconut or oat
2 Tablespoons Dill, dried
2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder
2 Tablespoons Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon Onion Flakes, dried
7 teaspoons Parsley, dried
1 teaspoon Sea Salt
½ teaspoon Black Pepper
½ teaspoon chives, dried
½ teaspoon Tarragon, dried
Mix all ingredients together in a jar with a tight fitting lid.
Shake the jar to mix the dry ingredients.
This ranch mix is shelf stable and doesn’t need to be stored in the fridge. It should be stored in a cool dry place, like a cupboard. It will keep for up to 2 months once mixed.
*Clumping in humid weather can occur. Shake the jar well before using it to break up clumps.
2 Tablespoons of dry ranch mix is equal to one 1 oz packet.
