The University of Waterloo's Euclid, Fryer and other contests were written last week. The next one is the Gauss 7 and Gauss 8 contests - in May 2025. Students interested in participating in these contests should communicate with your teacher/school for registration, and it should be free to the student. Here is a great grade 7 practice problem.

Hello Math Kangaroo Participants,

This is a reminder that the 2025 Math Kangaroo Competition is in 2 days (Sunday, March 23rd)!

The contest will be held on Sunday, March 23rd at the Bahen Centre for Information Technology (40 St George St, Toronto, ON M5S 2E4). The contest writing will begin at 11:00am. Please review the email below for check in process, rooms and other details.

Check-In Process:
Check-in will start at 10:00am. Please arrive no later than 10:45am so we have time to get everyone registered and seated so we can start with instructions for the contest. Students must bring a form of ID during check-in (ie. Report Card, Student Card, Drivers License, Passport, etc.)

Students will check in at the rooms assigned below. Once you enter the building, please go directly to the room you are writing in. There will be plenty of signage to direct you, as well as our team members who will be wearing white Math Kangaroo T-Shirts to help you throughout this process.

Contest Timing:
Grades 1 – 2 contest is 45 minutes in length (11:00am – 11:45am)
Grades 3 – 4 is 60 minutes in length (11:00am – 12:00pm)
Grades 5 – 12 is 75 minutes (11:00am – 12:15pm)

Parents are asked to be mindful of the contest duration. Students will be released as soon as they finish the test/ask to be released. Please plan accordingly. Students in Grades 1 – 6 should have a parent/guardian at the door for pickup. Students in Grades 7 and up will be dismissed on their own after the contest writing is done.

Parents/Guardians: (Room 1160 @ 11:10am)
Parents of students grades 1 – 4 are asked to bring a form of ID for verification upon pickup. During the contest, they are also invited to attend a short information session on the Youth Math Outreach offerings, followed by an informal parent MK contest in room 1160. The information session will go from 11:10am – 11:25am, and the parent contest session will go from 11:25 until your child is done writing the contest.

Materials:
Please bring your own pencils and eraser for the contest. You will be provided with scrap paper.
