Posted • “I run because it connects me to nature and I feel free. No music, no phone – just me and my soul connecting to nature.” Raman Singh’s description of how running makes him feel is one of the most beautiful we’ve read!

Raman came to love running in such a poetic way just three years ago, when he made the decision to get healthy and active. He decided to try running, bought a Garmin watch, and motivated himself to get out the door. At first, he struggled with the ups and down of weight loss, but in 2018, shortly after moving to Canada from India, he joined a 5k running clinic in Toronto and ran some of his first races. He loved the energy and community that he found in the clinic and at the races, and continues to find such joy in the new faces he sees out on the roads and trails everyday. “They smile and wave without knowing you – the reason is just running! That smile that you see early in the morning makes the rest of your day so wonderful.”

In 2018, the same year that he ran his very first race, Raman ran his first 21.1 km at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half-Marathon. He finished in a time of two hours and 50 minutes. This year, he worked with a coach and worked hard to better his time in the half. Just recently, Raman ran the lululemon SeaWheeze Virtual Half-Marathon in 1:58:50, finishing even faster than his 2:10 goal time!

2020 has been a year of motivation and breakthroughs for Raman, using quarantine time to increase his training and get stronger. Looking ahead, he has plans to increase his mileage; on January 14th, his 30th birthday, Raman will be running 30km in celebration! And after that, he plans to work with his coach to train for all 42.2 km of the marathon. You got this, Raman!

Thanks a lot for featuring ❤️❤️🙏🙏

This race changed my perception towards running.
What I am today is because of this race where I failed to finish well and got injured.
This race taught me without training you cannot achieve anything.
Lesson learnt after travelling 2000kms from ontario to east coast.
Saw runners killing hills and elevation of 400+meters so easily.
That made me realize how much effort they might have put during training.
There were local team who aced the the relay and were killing hills by hills.
That made me realize I never trained like that , that made me realize I need to train hard and give all in.
Today I can say at least I begun something which will take me somewhere.
Running is Journey which is never ending , you struggle through pain everyday that will fade away with passing time but what will stay is respect.
So there is saying you give blood and sweat and you get
Training harder day by day, trying and testing things which never did in my life till now.
Life is all about how you take it, you got one and choose your passion and turn into obsession which will take you place.
These days people say me you are crazy and I laugh at them , you know why because I chose what I love , working for that hard so someday I will be proud of myself that I did something that many can’t even think of doing.
Running is demanding and so you have to be dedicated ,determined and patient.
Talking about the effort, I recently read that your brain tells your body to stop you still got enough energy that you can run miles after miles.
Its all start with a question that keep me on track when I deviate from@my path.... how bad do you want it??
And then answers come as bad as O can burn my soul for that.

Its time to see how much progress I have made so far from October 2018 to September 2020.
Almost two year and half marathon time came down to 1:58:32 from 2:54:30 .
Its the the amount of effort you put that matters.
The more you train the better person you become.
Its all about a running journey that is never ending ,once you start it goes till death.
