"Jump starting" a dead computer. Don't try this at home.
I had an interesting job today. An iPad came in that was laggy. I ran all the usual diagnostics, did the usual optimizations, everything came back better than average.
But the lag wasn’t coming from anything “wrong”, it was coming from something unused.
Facial recognition was turned on but not being used, so for common tasks the iPad would first look for a face to authenticate. This was causing random “lag” at specific times. Turning the iPad on. Entering passwords. Etc.
Just thought I’d share as it can present as though something is wrong when it isn’t. If you’re not using facial recognition but it’s activated, you may experience random slow downs that can be fixed by disabling it.

Attempting to restore some old hardware. Recapping the capacitors on the logic board and modding the 3.6 lithium battery to a more modern cr2032. Current state is powers on but nothing beyond that. 1991 Macintosh Classic.
