Double-Storey Residential House Construction Description
1. Site Preparation
Site survey and setting out of the building.
Clearing vegetation, debris, and topsoil.
Excavation for foundations according to approved drawings.
2. Foundation Works
Excavate foundation trenches to the required depth.
Compact the ground and place blinding concrete.
Install reinforced strip footings or pad foundations.
Construct foundation walls with concrete blocks.
Backfill and compact around the foundations.
Install a damp-proof membrane (DPM) and damp-proof course (DPC).
3. Ground Floor Slab
Lay hardcore fill and compact thoroughly.
Add sand blinding.
Install the damp-proof membrane.
Fix reinforcement mesh where specified.
Pour and level reinforced concrete floor slab.
Cure the concrete properly.
4. Ground Floor Walling
Build external and internal walls using concrete blocks or bricks.
Form door and window openings.
Install reinforced concrete lintels above openings.
5. First Floor Structure
Construct reinforced concrete columns and beams.
Install suspended concrete floor slab with reinforcement.
Cast the first-floor slab and staircase.
Cure all structural concrete.
6. First Floor Walling
Build external and internal partition walls.
Form openings for windows and doors.
Install reinforced lintels where necessary.
7. Roof Construction
Install treated timber roof trusses.
Fix roof battens.
Install waterproof underlay.
Fit concrete roof tiles.
Install fascia boards, barge boards, gutters, and downpipes.
8. Electrical Installation
Install conduit pipes before plastering.
Wire lighting and power circuits.
Install distribution board.
Fit switches, sockets, indoor and outdoor lighting.
Test and commission the electrical system.
9. Plumbing Installation
Install hot and cold water supply pipes.
Install drainage and sewer pipes.
Fit geyser connections.
Install sanitary fittings including toilets, basins, showers, and kitchen sink.
Pressure-test all plumbing.
10. Plastering
Apply internal cement pla
