Bhutan Transparency Initiative - BTI
22/04/2026
On 21 April, the Bhutan Transparency Initiative (BTI) successfully conducted an Orientation and Sensitization Programme for the National Assembly of Bhutan in partnership with Save the Children Bhutan and RENEW. The program was funded by the European Union under the European Union project “Towards Empowering Bhutanese CSOs for Good Governance and Inclusive Development,” which served as a meaningful platform to foster dialogue and strengthen engagement between parliamentarians and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
A key highlight of the session was the proactive participation of CSO representatives from vulnerable groups, who presented pressing issues and articulated their concerns and recommendations to policymakers. Their contributions reflected a strong commitment to inclusive governance and evidence-based advocacy.
The programme was widely acknowledged by Members of the National Assembly as highly productive and fruitful. They expressed deep appreciation for the dedicated efforts of CSOs and recognized the vital role they play in advancing transparency, accountability, and community engagement.
Overall, the programme marked a significant step forward in reinforcing collaboration between parliamentarians and CSOs, further strengthening partnerships towards building a more inclusive and responsive nation. BTI looks forward to continued cooperation and sustained engagement in the future.

Today’s awareness session under the Project “Women and Youth for Digital Anti-Corruption and Access to Justice” marked an important step toward building informed, confident, and responsible citizens. Bhutan Transparency Initiative (BTI) brought together 40 participants from four gewogs (Blocks) and the Lhuentse Thromde (Municipality), creating a diverse and vibrant space for learning and dialogue.
Further, we were deeply honoured by the gracious presence of Dasho Minjur Dorji, Dzongda (Governor) of Lhuentse, whose unprecedented words of wisdom and commitment to eradicate corruption in Bhutan added great value to the program. We will remain grateful to Dasho and leave no stones unturned to materialise our common pursuit.
The active engagement of women, youth, and elected people’s representatives reflected a strong commitment to promoting transparenc, accountability, integrity, digital civic responsibility, and access to justice, while also laying a solid foundation for the capacity-building training. We extend our sincere gratitude to Lhuentse Dzongkhag administration for taking part in the session and for appreciating this meaningful initiative.
Our heartfelt thanks also goes to the Digital Democracy Initiative (DDI), CIVICUS, and Accountability Lab (Accountability Lab) for their generous support in funding this project, which holds immense potential to empower communities through digital tools, civic knowledge, and collective action.
Together, we move forward with renewed purpose to strengthen transparency, accountability, integrity, and access to justice for all.
