A network of CCTV cameras has been installed at strategic waste hotspots across Thimphu to deter illegal waste dumping

Thimphu Thromde has begun fining residents caught on surveillance cameras for dumping trash.
As of September 13, the Thromde has penalised 12 individuals and groups for offences ranging from littering to dumping waste in rivers under the Waste Prevention and Management Act 2009 and the Waste Prevention and Management Regulation 2012.
