From Field Investigation to Engineering Solutions: Third Final Year Project Review 2026
(07/05/2026)
The third project review presentation of the Final Year Engineering Geology students marked the successful culmination of months of dedicated research, field investigations, data analysis, and practical application of engineering geology principles. The projects demonstrated significant progress in integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world practices through geological mapping, UAV surveys, subsurface investigations, geotechnical characterisation, numerical modelling, tunnelling analysis, face mapping, AutoCAD drawings, 3D models, and geological cross-sections.
The panel members appreciated the technical competence, analytical approach, and practical relevance of the studies. They also provided valuable feedback to further strengthen the projects, particularly in improving data interpretation, enhancing the clarity of result presentation, refining modeling approaches, and incorporating more detailed engineering recommendations.
Students will now incorporate the comments and suggestions provided by the panel of experts to further refine their work in preparation for the final presentation to the external examiners in the coming month. Overall, the review highlighted the students’ growing professional skills and their ability to address complex geological and engineering challenges effectively.

TEACHERS' DAY CELEBRATION:- 2.05.2026
Fourth Year Engineering Geology students had the privilege of celebrating Teachers’ Day in our final semester on campus. Though the celebration was simple and without grandeur, it carried something far more meaningful and our deep-seated gratitude, appreciation, acknowledgment and affection.
This small gathering symbolized the respect and love we hold for our beloved lecturers of Engineering Geology and all the faculty of CST. Every lesson, every field experience and every moment of guidance has shaped not just our academic journey, but also paving our path towards real field application.
As we prepare to step beyond the campus, we carry with us your teachings, your patience and your inspiration. This celebration may have been modest, but the gratitude behind it is immense and everlasting.
Happy Teachers’ Day to all our mentors. You will always be a part of our journey.

Linking Innovation, Research, and Stakeholders through International Conference Platforms.
Ms. Rinchen Dema, a student of Engineering Geology, represented her group in presenting their final year research titled “Time-Lapse Temporal Moisture Variation Analysis of Phyllitic Bedrock Using ERT” at the 4th International Conference on Science, Engineering, and Technology held in Thimphu from 28th to 29th April 2026. The study focused on assessing moisture variations and their influence on slope stability in an active landslide area using Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT).
She described the opportunity as “an honor,” noting that the insightful feedback and expert recommendations significantly strengthened her understanding of both the methodology and its field applications. The discussions with professionals provided clarity on improving data interpretation, refining survey design, and integrating geophysical results with geotechnical analysis. The suggestions emphasized practical applications, particularly in identifying suitable slope stabilization measures, and encouraged the incorporation of long-term monitoring approaches. Additionally, the feedback highlighted the potential to extend the study framework to other regions with similar geological conditions, enhancing its broader relevance.
Ms. Dema expressed that this experience “contributed greatly to her academic growth and professional development,” underscoring the value of presenting research at an international platform
