Gautam Gambhir continues to make senseless experiments. First of all, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj should never be playing together. When you already have Kuldeep Yadav in the XI, that makes three bowlers who cannot bat at all. And when two of them are not even exceptional bowlers, it completely ruins the balance of the side. Ideally, I would drop both Siraj and Prasidh from ODIs. But if I had to pick one, I would go with Siraj, because Prasidh has terrible off-days far too often.

Then coming to the batting line up, Jadeja was pushed up to No. 5. I understand Washington Sundar was injured, otherwise he might have batted there. But seriously, why not send KL Rahul instead?

And honestly, why is Washington Sundar even in this team? The South Africa series clearly showed he is a liability in the ODI setup. So why does he continue to be picked? I don’t celebrate injuries, but this one might genuinely be a blessing in disguise for India. He simply does not deserve a place in the ODI side. But then Gambhir trusts his instincts more than statistics.
