My advice applies to Writing Task 1 (Academic). When you are writing Task 1, there is a temptation to
focus on the details. But you need to remember that
details only mean something when they are placed in
context. It is therefore very important to provide an
overview of the data - you could call it the big picture.
After that you can describe the tables, charts and so on in detail. In fact, if you don't have an overview you will be
marked down. So start by including it in your practice
