অবস্থা এমন পর্যায়ে গেছে যে আদালত প্রাঙ্গণে হামলা চালিয়ে আইনজীবীকে হত্যার ঘটনাও ঘটছে। চুরি, ডাকাতি, ছিনতাই, অপহরণ বেড়েছে আশঙ্কাজনকভাবে। বেড়েছে খুনের ঘটনাও। বিভিন্ন জায়গায় ‘মব জাস্টিস’ করে গণপিটুনির ঘটনায় সৃষ্টি হয়েছে উদ্বেগ। গত তিন মাসে গণপিটুনিতে খুন হয়েছেন অন্তত ৬৮ জন। অনাকাঙ্ক্ষিত ঘটনা নিত্য-নৈমিত্তিক ব্যাপার। রাতে রাজধানীর বিভিন্ন স্থানে দেশীয় অস্ত্রসহ লাঠি হাতে হরহামেশাই মহড়া দিতে দেখা যাচ্ছে বিভিন্ন গ্রুপকে। এতে তৈরি হচ্ছে ভীতিকর পরিস্থিতি। এসব কারণে জনমনে বিরাজ করছে আতঙ্ক। সব ঘটনায় মামলা হচ্ছে না। তবে পুলিশের হিসাব অনুযায়ী, দুই মাসে (সেপ্টেম্বর ও অক্টোবর) সারা দেশে মামলা হয়েছে প্রায় সাড়ে ২৫ হাজার। সংশ্লিষ্ট একাধিক সূত্রে জানা গেছে এসব তথ্য।

পুলিশ সদর দপ্তর সূত্রে জানা যায়, গত দুই মাসে (সেপ্টেম্বর ও অক্টোবর) সারা দেশের থানাগুলোয় মামলা হয়েছে ২৫ হাজার ৪৫৬টি। এর মধ্যে খুন ও ধর্ষণের মামলা হয়েছে ১ হাজার ২৯৬টি। হত্যাকাণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটেছে ৫২২টি (রোহিঙ্গা খুনের তথ্য এখানে নেই)। ডাকাতির ঘটনায় মামলা হয়েছে ১১১টি। ওই দুই মাসে দস্যুতার ঘটনায় ২৩১টি, দ্রুত বিচার আইনে ২২১টি, দাঙ্গা সংক্রান্ত ২৪টি এবং ধর্ষণের ঘটনায় ৭৭৪টি মামলা হয়েছে। এছাড়া নারী নির্যাতনের ১ হাজার ৮৩৩, শিশু নির্যাতনের ৫২৯, অপহরণের ১৬১, পুলিশ আক্রান্তের ৫৮, সিঁধেল চুরির ৪৮১ এবং চুরির ঘটনায় মামলা হয়েছে ১ হাজার ৩২৮টি। অন্যান্য কারণে মামলা হয়েছে ১৩ হজার ২১১টি। ওই দুই মাসে অস্ত্র আইনে ২৭০, বিস্ফোরক আইনে ২১৪, মাদকসংক্রান্ত ৫ হাজার ৯৯ এবং চোরাচালানসংক্রান্ত মামলা হয়েছে ৩৩৮টি।

চট্টগ্রামে একজন আইনজীবীকে হত্যা করা হয়েছে, এই হত্যার তীব্র প্রতিবাদ জানাচ্ছি। এই হত্যাকাণ্ডের সঙ্গে যারা জড়িত তাদেরকে খুঁজে বের করে দ্রুত শাস্তি দিতে হবে। এই ঘটনার মধ্য দিয়ে চরমভাবে মানবাধিকার লঙ্ঘিত হয়েছে। একজন আইনজীবী তার পেশাগত দায়িত্ব পালন করতে গিয়েছিল, আর তাকে এভাবে যারা পিটিয়ে হত্যা করেছে তারা সন্ত্রাসী। তারা যেই হোক না কেন শাস্তি তাদের পেতেই হবে।

অসাংবিধানিকভাবে ক্ষমতা দখলকারী ইউনূস সরকার যদি এই সন্ত্রাসীদের শাস্তি দিতে ব্যর্থ হয়, তাহলে মানবাধিকার লঙ্ঘনের দায়ে তাকেও শাস্তির মুখোমুখি হতে হবে। দেশবাসীর প্রতি আমি আহবান জানাচ্ছি, এই ধরনের সন্ত্রাস ও জঙ্গিবাদের বিরুদ্ধে সবাই ঐক্যবদ্ধভাবে রুখে দাঁড়ান। সাধারণ মানুষের জানমালের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করা জরুরি।

আওয়ামী লীগের অগণিত নেতাকর্মী, ছাত্র-জনতা ও আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনীর সদস্যদের হত্যা করার পরে চলছে হামলা-মামলা ও গ্রেফতারের মাধ্যমে হয়রানি। আমি এসব নৈরাজ‍্যবাদী ক্রিয়াকলাপের তীব্র নিন্দা ও প্রতিবাদ জানাচ্ছি।
