Benedict test for the identification of reducing sugar...

Reducing Sugarঃ A reducing sugar is a carbohydrate that has a free aldehyde (–CHO) or ketone (–CO–) group and can reduce oxidizing agents such as Benedict reagent.

Examples: Glucose, Fructose, Lactose, Maltose

Non-Reducing Sugarঃ A non-reducing sugar is a carbohydrate in which the aldehyde or ketone group is not free (it is involved in a glycosidic bond), so it cannot reduce Benedict reagent.

Examples: Sucrose, Trehalose
