Help the NDIS test the new way of planning. This is a paid oppoututnity by the NDIS.
If youโre an NDIS participant or nominee, youโre invited to help test parts of the new way of planning. This is a paid opportunity. The NDIS is looking for people with a range of disability types, support needs and lived experience to take part.
Testing the new way of planning with lots of different people helps us check the new process works as it should.
Sharing your feedback can also help the NDIS:
โ
find issues early
โ
understand what works
โ
make changes using real experience
โ
improve the new way of planning before it rolls out.
Taking part wonโt change your current NDIS plan, funding or supports. Information you share will only be used to improve the new process. It wonโt result in a new plan or budget.
๐ How to take part
If youโre an NDIS participant you can apply to take part in the testing.
You need to be 18 years or older to apply. Not everyone will be chosen to take part.
Taking part is voluntary and youโll be paid for your time.
The NDIS can also arrange supports to help you take part. This can include interpreters, live captioning and support workers.
โก๏ธ Applications are open until 31 December 2026 and testing is now taking place. You can find out more and apply to take part on the NDIS Engage website https://engage.ndis.gov.au/projects/test-the-new-way-of-planning
Note: MyCare is not the organiser or administrator of this test. We are only sharing publicly available information published by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for informational purposes. For official details, please refer directly to NDIS sources.

NDIS Short Term Accommodation, STA, is changing in 2026-27 ๐จ
And, yes, the NDIS is going back to calling it Short Term Accommodation.
If you or someone you care for is thinking about using STA, respite, or short-term support away from home, these changes are important to know.
The changes are effective from 1 July 2026.
Here are the key changes NDIS participants and families should know ๐
๐๏ธ STA pricing is no longer one bundled daily rate
Previously, when you used STA, your provider could often claim one daily price that covered your accommodation, meals, support and activities.
Now, STA pricing will be separated into different parts.
๐ STA will now separate:
โ
Participant accommodation
Item code 01_250_0115_1_1
$162.85 per day nationally
This is the cost of your accommodation during the stay.
โ
Support worker accommodation
Item code 01_251_0115_1_1
$162.85 per day nationally
This is the accommodation cost for the support worker, where needed.
โ
Support hours
Support hours will now be claimed by the hour using the relevant support worker rates.
These rates may depend on the time of day and the day of the week.
โ
High-intensity support item numbers
These may apply if you have complex or high-intensity support needs.
๐ฅ Support worker rates have also increased
Disability Support Worker rates have been indexed for 2026-27.
This increase applies to:
โ
Support worker rates
โ
SIL rates
โ
STA support hours
โ
Psychosocial Recovery Coaching
๐ What this means for your STA invoices
If you use STA after 1 July 2026, your invoices may start to look different.
Instead of one daily STA charge, you may see separate charges for:
โ
participant accommodation
โ
support worker accommodation
โ
support hours
โ
high-intensity support, where applicable
