This peaceful loop trail has to be Perth’s most underrated lakeside walk! 🌿✨

Just 25 minutes north of the Perth CBD, the Lake Goollelal Trail feels a world away from the city. Hidden within Yellagonga Regional Park, this peaceful 4.5km fully paved loop winds through wetlands, paperbark forests, native banksia woodlands and some of the most beautiful lakeside scenery you'll find in the northern suburbs.

One of the biggest highlights is the stunning new 380m boardwalk, which stretches out over the lake and offers incredible views across the water from two viewing platforms. It's fully accessible for wheelchairs and prams, making it easy for everyone to enjoy this spectacular section of the trail.

Take your time as you walk - Lake Goollelal is teeming with birdlife and wildlife. Keep an eye out for swans, colourful wrens, freshwater turtles and, if you're lucky, even a rakali (native water rat). The name "Goollelal" means "listen" in Noongar language, and it's the perfect reminder to slow down and appreciate the sounds of nature around you.

The boardwalk is just one part of the exciting Yellagonga Regional Park Improvement Project currently underway, helping transform this already beautiful reserve into one of Perth's premier nature destinations. By late 2026, visitors can also look forward to a new all-abilities nature playground, upgraded pathways and a boutique wine bar/café within the heritage-listed Luisini Winery building.

For now, the best place to start the walk is the Lake Goollelal car park, as the Luisini Winery car park is currently closed during redevelopment works.

Everything you need to know:

🅿️ Lake Goollelal carpark off Woodlake Retreat Rd, Kingsley
🥾 4.5km loop trail - fully paved & accessible
🛝 Small playground on the western side of the lake
🚴🏼‍♂️ Shared trail for pedestrians & cyclists
🐕 Dogs permitted on leash
💲 Free entry to Yellagonga Regional Park

This leafy oasis in the heart of suburbia is perfect for your next walk, run or family outing - and one of those rare Perth spots that still feels like a hidden gem!

Perth’s autumn colours won’t be around for much longer…

For a few short weeks each year, pockets of Perth transform into a sea of gold, orange and crimson leaves. But with autumn drawing to a close, now is your last chance to experience some of the city's most beautiful seasonal colour before winter fully arrives. 🍂

Save this list for a stroll this weekend and enjoy these stunning spots while they’re still at their best.

🍁 Subiaco Common: One of Perth’s most photographed autumn locations. The leafy avenue along Mere View Way turns a brilliant golden colour and creates the perfect tunnel of leaves for photos.

🍂 Hyde Park, North Perth: A Perth classic. Wander beneath towering trees, enjoy the colourful foliage reflected in the lakes and grab a coffee from nearby Chu Bakery while you're there.

🍁 Claisebrook, East Perth: The pathways around Tea Tree Lagoon become lined with golden London plane trees, creating one of the prettiest urban autumn walks in Perth.

🍂 Borrello Park, Roleystone: A hidden Perth Hills gem where golden poplars, colourful liquidambars and a picturesque brook create storybook autumn scenery.

🍁 Raeburn Orchards, Roleystone: One of Perth’s most famous autumn destinations. The persimmon orchards glow in shades of orange, red and gold, with orchard walks available for $5 per adult.

🍂 Fred Jacoby Park, Mundaring: A favourite in the Perth Hills, with wide open lawns, towering deciduous trees and some of the most vibrant autumn colours you'll find close to the city.

Autumn colours in Perth are fleeting and many of these trees will lose their leaves over the coming days, so don't leave it too long.

Which spot is your favourite? 👇🍂

These burgers stack up with some of the best we’ve had around Perth! 🍔🔥

TGI Fridays Australia just dropped a new smash burger range, so we headed to the Westfield Carousel rooftop restaurant to try the new lineup, and safe to say… crispy edges, melty cheese and loaded toppings - they absolutely understood the assignment 👀

The Signature Whiskey Glaze Smash Burger was delish thanks to that sweet smoky glaze, while The Big Boy 2.0 was an absolute beast - stacked with BBQ brisket, bacon jam, creamy slaw, Cajun onion rings and all the extras. Messy in the best possible way 😮‍💨🍔

And it wasn’t just the burgers either… we also demolished the Mozz Sticks, Corn Ribs drenched in garlic butter and Cajun spice, FRIDAYS™ Signature Chicken Strips and the surprisingly fresh Chicken Bowl-Rito (because balance 🤣). Washed it all down with a Peach Long Island Iced Tea and a cold pint of beer before finishing with the ridiculous Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Brownie Obsession! 🍫

The best part? Every Monday, MyFridays Members can score the Signature Whiskey Glaze Smash Burger + fries for just $16.90. Honestly, that kind of value is hard to beat in Perth right now 👏

Even better - the Carousel venue also runs General Knowledge Trivia every Monday night, so you can grab dinner, drinks and stay for the quiz after 🍻🧠

To celebrate National Burger Day on May 28, TGI Fridays will also be giving away limited free burgers at venues nationwide - so mark it in your calendar!! 🤩

📍 Westfield Carousel Rooftop Dining Precinct, Cannington
🕚 Sun-Wed: 11am-8:30pm (Thur to 9pm) | Fri & Sat: 11am-9.30pm
INVITED | TGI Fridays Carousel

Perth’s best waterfront escape? We think this might be it 👀✨

If you’ve been craving a mini city staycation - or you’re visiting Perth from regional WA for a special event or weekend away - the new Waterfront Escape package at DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront is seriously hard to beat.

Set right on the Swan River beside Elizabeth Quay, this package includes accommodation, buffet breakfast, access to all hotel facilities, a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival and an adult double pass to explore one of Perth’s most prized attractions - The Bell Tower.

And honestly… the value is incredible. Packages start from just $315pn, or from $384pn for a River View Room like ours - waking up to those river views was something special 😍

From the moment you arrive (warm DoubleTree cookie included 🍪), everything about this hotel feels relaxed, modern and perfectly positioned to enjoy Perth like a tourist. We loved wandering the riverside paths and exploring the city on foot before heading up to 18 Knots rooftop bar with stunning 360-degree views over the Swan River and city skyline.

And what better way to start the day than a buffet breakfast at Reel Kitchen, with front-row seats to the Swan River and a generous spread of hot and cold breakfast favourites - plus a fresh juice station. (And if you’re staying longer, the award-winning restaurant is also open for dinner, showcasing local produce and WA wines.)

With panoramic water views from almost every corner of the hotel, a rooftop infinity pool, 24-hour fitness centre, super comfortable rooms and a peaceful riverside location, this felt like the perfect easy getaway without ever leaving Perth.

The Bell Tower experience is also such a fun addition to the package - from learning the fascinating history behind the centuries-old bells that fill Perth city with their chimes, to watching live bell-ringing demonstrations (Thurs + Sun) and taking in panoramic city views from the observation deck.

Sometimes the best escape is right here in Perth ✨
