Palliative care is an essential service that is sorely underfunded. It plays a critical role in ensuring that people are treated with dignity. It’s National Palliative Care Week, a great time to learn more about what palliative care actually is (and isn’t) and the important role it can play in the lives of many.

Seatbelts save lives and we unquestionably want people to be wearing their seatbelts properly. But with the introduction of new AI cameras, the law is causing some unfair outcomes.

Nadia Mitsopoulos and I had a chat on ABC Radio Perth about some concerns with how infringements are being handled.

We’re seeing significant penalties for people caught by AI cameras for seatbelt offences - $550 and 4 demerits for a passenger’s sash belt worn incorrectly - that’s a higher penalty than running a red light or doing 29 km/h over the speed limit! And on a long weekend that’s 8 demerit points.

There are legitimate challenges about monitoring sash belt use - for parents with kids and for carers who have passengers who are neurodivergent.

Community members are raising privacy concerns.

People with genuine medical exemptions have to waste time constantly disputing infringements.

Drivers are getting slugged with multiple fines in short periods of time, without realising it (note - the Minister advises you can dispute subsequent fines).

There are real concerns about fairness, proportionality, and the appropriateness of how this technology is being used.

WA Police say the law is not changing behaviour - and that’s a worry.

If you agree change is needed, you can sign and share this petition:

Before the election, Labor promised certainty.

After the election, Anthony Albanese admitted Labor has “changed position”

You can’t trust Labor not to change the rules again. WA fought too hard for its fair share to risk that happening to our GST deal.

Thank you to Melody and Kevin for sharing the story of your beautiful daughter Tara-Louise, whose life was tragically cut short far too soon. Your courage in speaking about her journey with epilepsy is incredibly moving.

Through your story, you’ve highlighted such an important message about the need to take epilepsy medication as prescribed and to advocate strongly for timely medical care. By honouring Tara-Louise’s memory through awareness and events like the Purple Walk, you are helping others and creating a legacy she would be so proud of.

You can read more about Tara-Louise’s story here: facebook.com/share/p/1DiGnuBrDU/

It was also a pleasure to meet Melissa, a wonderfully active and accomplished member of our community - I appreciate your enthusiasm and encouragement.

To Michelle and everyone at Epilepsy WA - thank you for the vital work you do supporting individuals and families. Keep up the great work!

Today, on the steps of Parliament House, some incredibly brave people gathered to share their stories of forced adoption - stories of loss, trauma, and lives forever changed.

The victim survivors of forced adoption are the mothers and fathers who were forced to give up their children, and those people who grew up as the children taken from their parents. Every story is a powerful reminder of the deep and lasting impact of these past injustices.

The effects of forced adoption are still being felt today, and it is clear that more must be done to acknowledge, support, and deliver justice for those affected.

Your experience matters, and that’s why I’ve been asking questions in Parliament to make sure that this government does not forget about this matter, that it doesn’t fall off the radar.

I’ve also lodged a motion in WA Parliament’s upper house - to fight for justice.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who had the courage to speak with Hon Nick Goiran MLC and I, and thank you to all advocates who continue to fight for recognition, healing, and meaningful action.

Rally for Life 👶🏻🤰🏻

What a turnout! Thank you to everyone who gathered for the Rally for Life last week.

It was an honour to speak about the preciousness of life and the importance of building a culture that supports both women and their children.

It my privilege to speak with everyone and announce the launch of the Parliamentary Friends of Pregnancy Support Centres, a step toward ensuring practical, compassionate support is available where it’s needed most.

Family and domestic violence continues to break all the wrong records, and the need for organisations like Starick has never been greater. It was a privilege to attend a beautiful Mother’s Day High Tea over the weekend in support of the incredible work of Starick 🌸

While the day was filled with warmth, generosity and community, it is sobering how many people are in need of their services. Starick provides life-changing support and safe accommodation for women and children escaping FDV, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. We are so grateful for the work they do every single day.

Thank you to everyone who made the event so special – and for the delightful, knitted treasures I picked up for my kids, made with such care and love 🧶💛

Alongside Hon Nick Goiran MLC , it’s truly our privilege to support Starick and the vital work they do in our community.

If you’re able to help, please consider donating online or visit the Starick Op Shop in Rivervale – every contribution makes a real difference.

Labor is giving out a $100 fuel voucher.

But electricity is up.
Water is up.
Car Rego is up.

As a result, households are actually paying more in higher fees and charges than they’re receiving with the $100 fuel giveaway.

After years of record revenue, West Australians are worse off.

WA families are asking a fair question: if we are the wealthiest state in the country why does life feel harder?
