We have a FRAME!! 🐔🔨
From a pile of timber to something that actually looks like a chicken coop 😅
It’s starting to feel real now!!
Still a long way to go (and plenty more trips to Bunnings 😂), but seeing the frame up has us so excited for what’s coming next.
The girls are one step closer to their new home 🐓✨
Can’t wait to keep building and show you all the progress!
🌱 Little Veggie Patch Update 🌱
Our little veggie patch is officially underway and we’re pretty proud of how it’s all coming together 🤍
We’re lucky to already have two lemon trees and a mandarin tree on the block 🍋🍊 — and now we’ve started planting out the beginnings of our winter veg.
So far we’ve got broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, potatoes, string beans, snap peas and cos lettuce all in the ground 🌿
It’s still early days and we’re definitely learning as we go, but there’s something pretty special about growing your own food (even if it’s just a small patch to start with).
Fingers crossed we can keep everything alive and thriving 🤞🏼😅

🌿 Welcome to The Little Block Homestead 🌿
Hi, I’m Soph 👋🏼
In the last 12 months I’ve stepped away from FIFO life and am now working back in Perth as a Maintenance Administrator — and honestly, loving being home more.
My partner Tom is a Heavy Diesel Mechanic by trade, juggling running our own business alongside working — so life is definitely busy around here 😅
Then there’s Odin 🐺 our husky, who’s equal parts chaos and cuddles, and always right in the middle of whatever we’re doing.
Together, we’re creating The Little Block Homestead — learning how to grow our own food, raise chickens, and build a more simple, hands-on life for our family.
We’re not experts, just giving it a go, figuring things out as we go, and sharing the real journey — the wins, the fails, and everything in between.
Right now we’re in the middle of building our chicken coop and getting our garden beds sorted, so it’s all just beginning 🐓🌱
