We’re celebrating a Diamond anniversary today! This is the 85th anniversary of the birth of NEIL DIAMOND. The singer-songwriter was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1941. Early on, he worked in the famous Brill Building, writing hit songs like Sunday and Me for Jay and The Americans and I’m a Believer for The Monkees. He signed with Bang Records in 1965 and had his first Hot 100 hit the following year. It made it to only number 55 at the time, but when it was re-released in 1970, it went to number 21: Solitary Man.
Neil also released a collection of standards, on an album called, “The Movie Album—As Time Goes By.” Among the many other songs that Neil Diamond has contributed to the pop repertoire are:
