New ‘Space Junk’ series available now online - www.gracehummerston.com

Handcrafted, ethical and sustainably made one-off pieces of wearable art 🙌🏻

My story…
It all began with a piece of discarded perspex I found in a bin at a plastic fabricator. I took it home, pondered what kind of jewellery I could make from it… and started playing—experimenting with techniques, exploring colours, shapes, and designs.

Seven years later, that one piece has grown into a full-time practice. I now have 15 gallery stockists across Australia, an online store, and regularly exhibit my work nationwide.

Still to this day, every single piece of wearable art jewellery I create is ethically handcrafted from found plastic, right here in my Perth studio.

Thank you 🙏🏻 for supporting my local, handcrafted, sustainable practice … it’s been a ride.

Massive respect to the one and only for the opportunity to work with her in my studio to take these amazing photos.

New collection of my ‘Space Junk’ series available online!
This series was inspired by the movement of the night sky. A myriad of junk, colour and mystery.

All of my pieces are made from repurposed perspex collected from manufacturers discarded offcuts. In collecting these off cuts of perspex I aim to divert these beautifully coloured pieces of material from entering landfill which creates a sustainable practice.

This series ‘Behind the Invisible’ was inspired by the battle women have endured to be seen, heard and valued worldwide. A movement of power within the feminine world has enabled a voice, a strength to face up and have the courage to move forward withholding a place on this earth. A place of beauty, compassion, acceptance, understanding and pride.

Each one of my pieces is hand-crafted from recycled perspex, collected from manufacturers discarded off-cuts. Within my practice I aim to divert this plastic from landfill by repurposing it and creating a new life in the form of wearable art.

Recycled perspex, artist quality acrylic paint, 925 sterling silver and black hematite.

Available online only. Limited edition series.
