URGENT SUPPORT NEEDED

Tonight, while many of us are deciding what to have for dinner, there are mothers in our community trying to work out how to make half a packet of pasta stretch for multiple children.

This week alone, over 10 families walked through our doors in tears.

Not because they wanted luxuries.
Not because they were irresponsible.
Not because they were looking for handouts.

Because they genuinely do not know how they are surviving anymore.

We sat with mothers whose bank accounts are sitting in negatives before the week has even begun. Mothers who are skipping meals so their children can eat. Mothers trying to smile in front of their children while internally panicking about how they are going to survive another week.

One mother quietly admitted she is still wearing undergarments with holes in them because she cannot justify spending money on herself when her children need food.

Another mother cried because her children are sleeping cold at night and she cannot afford proper warm blankets.

Another sat in our office completely overwhelmed because after rent, electricity and basic bills, there was nothing left. Not “not much left.” Nothing.

These are the conversations happening behind closed office doors.
These are the realities people do not see.
This is what poverty actually looks like in Australia.

It is mothers breaking down because their children need winter clothes.
It is women trying to wash and rewash the same few items because they cannot afford replacements.
It is families rationing basic groceries to survive.
It is mothers carrying shame for things that should never bring shame.

And the hardest part?
Many of these women are trying. They are attending appointments, searching for work, raising children, trying to heal, trying to survive trauma, trying to rebuild their lives while carrying burdens most people could not imagine.

But effort does not magically create food.
Strength does not suddenly produce money.
And resilience does not keep children warm at night.

We urgently need:
• Warm blankets
• Pantry and grocery items
• Hygiene products
• New underwear and warm clothing
• Gift cards
• Financial donations for emergency support

Please, if you are in a position to help, help now.

Because no mother should have to choose between feeding her children and replacing her own underwear.
No child should be sleeping cold while we have the ability to help.
And no woman should have to sit in shame because she is struggling to survive.

While we can say we don't know these families personally, we cannot say we were not told about them, we cannot say we didn't know and that's why we didn't help.

Today we bring these families to you, please choose to support them.
