Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the release of Measure For Measure!

On April 21st, 1986, ICEHOUSE’s fourth studio album was released. Suggesting the writings of Shakespeare, it was called Measure For Measure and produced some of ICEHOUSE’s most beloved songs. It topped the Australian charts at number 8.

A total of five singles were released from the album, starting with “No Promises” in November of 1985. The single reached number 30 on the Australian charts and number 9 on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart. This song originated from the ballet Boxes, a collaboration between the Sydney Dance Company and ICEHOUSE produced in November of 1985.

In March of 1986, the track, “Baby, You’re So Strange” was the second single released. The single reached the Top 20 in the Australian music charts.

The third single, released in June of 1986, was the biting track, “Mr. Big.” The song also reached the Top 20 in the Australian music charts.

The song, “Cross The Border”, was the fourth single from Measure For Measure. It was released in November of 1986. It remains a fan favorite and is played live by the band to this day.
Coming out only in the UK and the US, “Paradise” was released as a single. A picture disk for the song in the shape of Australia is a sought after memorabilia item for ICEHOUSE fans.

Other tracks from the album continue to be requested to be played live by ICEHOUSE fans, including “Angel Street” and “Spanish Gold”. ICEHOUSE performed at the Ritz in New York City in August of 1986, producing a recording of the show.

We will have more posts and content in the near future, continuing the 40th Anniversary celebration of Measure For Measure! Stay tuned!
