Helping Teens & Children Transition Back to School.
Heading back to school can be tough for teens & children, with disrupted routines and anxiety may be creeping in.
While going through one of my favourite books, ‘This Is My Brain’ by Elise Gravel, I came across this page that feels so relevant right now. Holidays can throw off routines, and starting a new year may bring its own challenges.
A few ways we can support our kids:
1️⃣ Reset Sleep Schedules – Encourage consistent bedtimes to boost focus and mood.
2️⃣ Fuel Their Brain – Nutritious meals = better energy and concentration.
3️⃣ Move Daily – Even short bursts of exercise improve mental health.
4️⃣ Encourage Questions – Exploring new ideas keeps their minds sharp.
5️⃣ Talk About Worries – A simple chat can ease back-to-school anxiety.
Small changes can make a big difference. 👣

Ruby’s Worry by Tom Percival very quickly became one of my favourite books! A heartwarming story about young Ruby who experiences the weight of a worry that grows bigger and bigger the more she tries to ignore it. As the worry becomes overwhelming, Ruby learns the importance of talking about her feelings with others. With the support of a friend, Ruby discovers that sharing her worries can help her feel lighter 💛.
This book is a wonderful way to introduce children to the concept of managing worries, and the power of talking them through with trusted people.

Another year, another few forgotten water bottles.
This year has been filled with the privilege of being welcomed into the lives of so many amazing families. Having front-row seats to watch your children and teens grow, face new challenges, and celebrate their achievements has been the greatest gift.
I’ve shed more happy tears than ever from the moments of pride and excitement that you’ve so generously shared with me. Each one reminds me how lucky I am to witness these milestones with you.
To my wonderful families: thank you for trusting me and allowing me to be part of your journey. I’m so excited for another year of growth, laughter, and successes.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and New Year!

But before I do, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the incredible families who have warmly welcomed me into their lives. Supporting the journeys of countless young minds has been an immense privilege.
The decision to establish Play Psychology Perth has been one of my strongest, and I now know, with absolute certainty, I will be here for many years to come. Thank you.
During my leave, I’ll be checking emails, ensuring continued support. As the festive season approaches, I wish you all a Merry Christmas filled with love & happiness.
