Sleep isn't a skill your child is failing to learn.

It's a state their body is struggling to enter.

The difference matters more than people realise.

A skill is something you teach through practice — repeat it, reward it, refine it.

A state is something the body either enters or doesn't, depending on the conditions present.

You can't behaviour-chart a nervous system into a settled state. You can't reward your way past sensory overload. You can't out-consistency a dysregulated body.

What you CAN do is create the conditions — internally and externally — that allow the body to enter the state of rest.
