Perth Doula Services
On the weekend, I had the privilege of undertaking further training in Optimal Maternal Positioning (OMP) with at the Ibis Hotel.
Continuing to deepen my knowledge in this space is something I’m truly passionate about. Optimal Maternal Positioning focuses on supporting alignment and mobility within the mother’s pelvis during pregnancy and labour. When the body is well-aligned and supported to move freely, it can help create more space for baby to navigate their way through the pelvis, encouraging smoother, more efficient labours.
This work is not about rigid “positions,” but about understanding the dynamic relationship between movement, posture, and physiology. It empowers women with practical, evidence-informed tools to work with their bodies and their babies- something I see time and time again as invaluable in the birth space.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, refining my skills, and bringing this knowledge back to the families I support.
If you’d like to learn more about this work, you can connect with Ginny at [email protected].

Calm baby on Day 1?
Ahh yes… the “angel baby” phase 👼🏼
(Spoiler: it’s not personality- its physiology)
Your baby just did the biggest workout of their life… birth. And so did YOU!
Adrenaline is high, they’re alert, wide-eyed, taking you in ✨
And then… they crash.
Cue the deep, sleepy, “why won’t you wake to feed?” vibes 😴
You might need to actually work to wake them for feeds.
Your milk is still colostrum - tiny drops of liquid gold - and your body needs that frequent stimulation to get the memo: “hey, we’re feeding a baby now.”
So no, this isn’t a unicorn baby.
And no, this isn’t a feeding issue.
This is the pause before things pick up.
The calm before the cluster feeding storm 😉
Rest. Snuggle. Offer the breast. Repeat.
Your baby knows exactly what they’re doing - even if it feels a little confusing right now. 🤪
Coming to you soon is a series of “NEWBORN T***Y BITS” - stay tuned! But I want to hear YOU🫵🏻
