Is there anything better than getting outside, leaving the screens behind and riding on a perfect sunny day?
Today, our Year 9 Outdoor Education students have been doing just that through a mountain biking unit that combines skill, challenge and teamwork.
Students learned how to ride safely as a group, handle their bikes with care and confidence, and negotiate obstacles on and off the track.
Many showed strong leadership and communication skills, while others pushed themselves to build speed, balance, and control on the Bina Parkland pump tracks
Itās been great to see confidence grow alongside skill, proving thereās more to learning than what happens indoors.

What does it feel like to spend a day learning as a university student?
Our Year 12 ATAR English and ATAR Literature students engaged with ideas, texts and perspectives beyond the classroom through Curtin Universityās annual English and Literature Conference.
The conference brings together secondary students from across the state to explore creative writing, syllabus concepts and approaches to exam responses through lectures led by subject experts.
For JSR students, the experience offered a chance to deepen their understanding, test ideas in a new environment and see where their studies can lead beyond school.
Thank you to Ms Radacic, Ms Leone, Ms Stacey and Ms McKenzie for supporting students throughout the day.

Our Kindy students enjoy developing a wide range of practical and social skills together, and this term has been no exception. With guidance from Mrs Shortland, students rolled up their sleeves and worked together to prepare homemade soups, taking pride in every step of the process.
From peeling and chopping vegetables to sharing the finished meal, students built independence, teamwork and healthy and safe eating habits along the way.
Experiences like this show how learning at JSR begins with real tasks, shared responsibility and the simple satisfaction of creating something together.

Even the rain does not stop the learning at JSR; in fact, it adds to the experience.
In the school's bushland, Kindy students embraced wet weather and explored the outdoors with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Dressed in raincoats and gumboots, students splashed in puddles, listened to the sounds of rainfall and observed water collecting on leaves and plants. Outdoor learning experiences like this encourage resilience, observation and a connection with nature, helping students see the environment as a place to explore in all conditions.
