The Mayan astronaut carving appears on the sarcophagus lid of
K'inich Janaab' Pakal, discovered in his tomb
beneath the Temple of the Inscriptions in
Palenque. The relief shows Pakal in a reclined
position surrounded by complex symbols
that some interpret as controls, flames, and
mechanical components, resembling a pilot
inside a spacecraft. Mainstream archaeology
explains the scene as a symbolic journey
through the Mayan underworld, depicting the
World Tree and cosmic rebirth. However, the
extreme detail, apparent tubing, and apparent
propulsion imagery continue to fuel alternative
theories suggesting advanced technological
symbolism or forgotten knowledge
