🍂Sometimes we feel so much guilt because we want to be the playful parent, but our mind is everywhere.
We have so many things we must do, and our executive functions are all over the place.
We might look at our children and we want to jump into their world, but our "cup" is completely empty.
I am learning and teaching others that we cannot pour from a cup that has nothing inside. If I don't take the time for self-compassion and refill my own energy, I have nothing left for my own life, and definitely nothing left for my child.
We hear a lot about "co-regulation," but how can we help them stay calm and regulated if we have a lot of stress inside?
Being a "good parent" doesn't mean you are a playground 24/7. It means you are human being, a genuine and vulnerable one.
Today, I am trying to be kind to myself. I need to refill my cup first so I can finally have the space to breathe (without feeling guilty), and then, maybe then, I can play.
