Sydney Paws Project
02/07/2026
I’d like to address something that has been weighing on me for quite some time.
I’m 19 years old and I run Sydney Paws Project as a self-funded rescue. I’m incredibly proud of that. Being young and self-funded does not make my rescue any less genuine or any less dedicated. Every cat I take in is cared for with love and I do everything I can with my own resources, alongside the kindness and support of this amazing community.
Unfortunately, I have been the target of repeated comments and criticism from someone who is over three times my age and involved in rescue herself. Rather than supporting fellow rescuers she has chosen to repeatedly undermine my work, including making comments about me being “self-funded” and “young” as though that somehow diminishes what I do.
What I find even more disappointing is that many of these comments are made anonymously across rescue pages. Hiding behind anonymous profiles to attack and criticise other rescuers is not only unprofessional, but it goes against everything rescue should stand for. Our time and energy should be spent helping animals, not tearing down the people who are trying to help them.
I won’t be naming anyone as I don’t believe that helps the situation. However, I do believe this kind of behaviour reflects poorly on the rescue community. Rescue should be about compassion, teamwork and supporting one another for the sake of the animals.
I may be young but I work tirelessly for these cats, and I will continue doing so regardless of negativity. I won’t be engaging in personal attacks or online drama. My focus has always been and will always remain the welfare of the animals in my care.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support Sydney Paws Project, whether through donations, fostering, adopting, sharing posts, or simply encouraging me. Your kindness allows me to keep doing what I love and for that I am truly grateful. 🤍

Gina was born on the streets, where every day was about survival. Her dad George, was rescued alongside her and after months of waiting, he finally found his forever home. Watching him leave was so bittersweet… because Gina was left behind.
Now she’s waiting all alone.
Gina isn’t the kind of cat who will run straight into your arms. She’s quiet, gentle and takes a little time to trust. After everything she’s been through, I don’t blame her at all. But once she feels safe, she has so much love to give.
She isn’t a playful, energetic kitten. She’s the kind of cat who simply wants a peaceful home, a soft bed to curl up in and someone who will love her for who she is.
Every day she watches other cats leave for their forever families while she stays behind, wondering when it will finally be her turn.
I know there’s someone out there who will see the beautiful soul she is. Please help us find Gina the home she’s waited so long for. She deserves to know what it feels like to belong. 🤍

We are now taking expressions of interest for his forever home.

Tonight I got to witness one of the most beautiful parts of rescue.
George has officially been adopted and gone to his forever home❤️
Saying goodbye was harder than I expected. I was emotional watching him leave but my heart is so full knowing he finally has a place to call home.
For four years, George survived on the streets. He knew hunger, loneliness and hardship. When I first rescued him, he was a cat who had spent his whole life simply trying to survive. Watching him learn to trust, accept love and become the affectionate boy he is today has been such a privilege.
Tonight, that chapter came to an end and a new one began.
George will never have to wonder where his next meal is coming from. He will never have to sleep outside or fight to survive again. Instead, he will be surrounded by love, warmth and a family who already adore him.
George, thank you for trusting me. Thank you for every head bump, every purr and every moment we shared. You have truly left a paw print on my heart that will never fade.
I am going to miss you so much my sweet boy, but seeing you finally get the life you always deserved makes every goodbye worth it.
Be happy, be loved and enjoy every second of your new life. You waited a long time for this, and nobody deserves it more than you. 🤍🐾

Macy and Maggie enjoying their time together 🤍
I truly think Maggie sees Macy as a big sister. The bond they’ve formed is so special to watch. They spend their days side by side, keeping each other company, playing together and sharing so much love.
Seeing these two together melts my heart 🥰

Nugget and Zinger were just babies when they were found trying to survive in a KFC carpark. No warm bed. No family. No one looking out for them. Just two little brothers learning far too young how cruel the world can be.
When they first came into care, they were scared and unsure of people. But thanks to the patience and love of their amazing foster carer Yvette, they slowly began to realise that not all humans are bad. Day by day they let their walls down and discovered what it feels like to be safe, loved and cared for.
Now they’re no longer the frightened kittens they once were. They’re sweet little boys who just want affection, comfort and a place to belong.
The saddest part is that they’re still waiting.
Waiting for someone to choose them.
Waiting for a family to see how special they are.
Waiting for a home to call their own.
Nugget and Zinger aren’t bonded and can be adopted separately, but if someone could open their heart to both boys, it would mean the world.
Please don’t let them grow up waiting. ❤️

Thank you for helping us give these babies a second chance.
Maggie was found crying in a cardboard box, completely alone. No mum. No siblings. Nobody coming back for her. Just a tiny 3-week-old kitten left to fend for herself.
She was freezing cold, shaking, filthy and covered in fleas. If she hadn’t been found when she was she likely wouldn’t have survived.
We brought her home, bathed her, kept her warm and bottle fed her every 2–3 hours around the clock. For weeks, sleep wasn’t in the picture but she was worth every second lost.
What amazed me most was watching her grow. With no mother to teach her, she somehow figured everything out on her own. She learned how to use the litter tray, groom herself, play and explore the world just like any other kitten.
Now she’s 8 weeks old and thriving.
I told myself I was just raising her until she was old enough. But somewhere along the way, Maggie made that decision for me. She waits at the door for me to come home, follows me everywhere and has completely stolen my heart.
I don’t think Maggie is going anywhere.
You were abandoned once sweet girl but you’ll never be abandoned again. I promise to love you for the rest of your life.

Thank you for helping us give these babies a second chance.
George is still here, getting lots of love every single day while he patiently waits for his forever home.
Despite everything he’s been through, he’s become the biggest softie. Every day he shows more of his sweet, gentle personality and reminds me just how much love he has to give.
George and I are both holding onto hope that somewhere out there, his perfect person is waiting to find him. Until then he’ll continue being spoiled, loved and reminded that he’s worthy of a family of his own.
Your happy ending is coming George 🤍🐾
