“My hair just won’t grow.”

It probably is growing. It just isn’t staying on your head long enough.

Hair grows, on average, around 1–1.5cm every month. If you’ve been stuck at the same length for years, the problem often isn’t your scalp—it’s what’s happening to your ends.

Every time your ends snap off, you’re losing the new length your hair has worked months to grow.

The most common causes?

• Heat styling without adequate protection.
• Over-bleaching or repeated lightening.
• Chemical services on already compromised hair.
• Tight hairstyles that create constant tension.
• Aggressive brushing, especially on wet hair.
• Skipping regular trims, allowing split ends to travel further up the hair shaft.

This is why so many people feel like their hair has “stopped growing.” It hasn’t. The length is simply breaking away as quickly as it’s being produced.

Healthy hair growth is only half the equation, Length retention is the other half. If your goal is longer hair, stop asking, “How do I make my hair grow faster?” Start asking, “What am I doing that’s preventing it from staying long?” Because the answer is often sitting in your daily routine—not your genetics.
