What's your favourite romance trope?

Twenty days until Isolated is in your hands, and I am not okay about it in the best possible way.
This book wrecked me writing it, and I mean that as the highest possible compliment to Deacon Worth and Konstantin Andropov, who refused to let me take the easy road with a single page of their story.
Kon is seventeen when he meets Deke. He is Russian, gay, and living with a fear so constant he's forgotten what it feels like not to carry it. His parents love him enough to let him go — to find him a way out through family in the Czech Republic, to choose his future over their proximity to him. That kind of love is its own kind of heartbreak.
And then, quietly, carefully, Kon looks at Deke and says:
"When I turn eighteen... when I am in university in States... maybe then we could meet again? As equals?"
He's not asking for everything. He's asking for the possibility of everything. He's asking Deke to hold a door open and trust that he'll walk through it when he's ready, when he's free, when he gets to meet him on level ground for the first time.
Deke is twenty-six and completely gone for this kid, and absolutely clear-eyed about what that means — that he waits. That he holds space across an ocean and two years and two attempts that fell apart at the last moment, leaving him standing in an arrivals terminal with his heart in his hands and a phone buzzing with bad news.
Twenty days.
The cover is nearly here. The last edits are almost done. And then Kon gets to be free, and Deke gets to stop waiting, and you get to be there when they finally meet as equals.
