Let’s talk about long-term contracts because they can make doctors nervous.

When I’m chatting with GPs early in the process, one of the biggest concerns is committing to a multi-year contract. The usual thought is: “What if it doesn’t work out?”

Totally fair question.

But what I always point to is the exit clause. If a practice offers a 2, 3, or even 4-year contract but includes a 30-day opt-out, that changes everything.

It’s not really about the length, it’s about flexibility. Personally, I’d be just as comfortable signing a 4-year contract as a 1-year one, as long as I knew I had that option to leave if things didn’t feel right.

Have you ever turned down a contract because of the commitment? Curious to hear how you handled it. 👇

If you’re serious about attracting quality GPs, speed matters. ⏱️

I’ve seen great candidates slip away simply because a practice didn’t have their recruitment process sorted slow responses, unclear approval chains, too many delays. And in a tight market, that can be all it takes for a GP to move on.

That’s why it’s crucial to have your stakeholders lined up and your process ready to go before a GP even shows interest. It shows you’re prepared, professional, and genuinely keen.

Making the move to Australia as a GP can feel overwhelming, and I get that, it’s a big step with lots of paperwork and hurdles to jump through. That’s why I’m passionate about supporting doctors like Dr. Jo McKerrel and her family every step of the way.

Jo told me how much easier the process felt with my help, saying, “Brett was incredible, he really cares about us and made everything so much smoother.” Having worked with other recruiters before, she said my hands-on approach made all the difference.

If you’re thinking about relocating, I’m here to make the journey as simple and stress-free as possible, so you can focus on what really matters, starting your new chapter with confidence.
