Some truly outstanding picks on our new releases table.

Our book of the month and next bookclub pick is Agnieszka Szpila’s HEXES OF THE DEADWOOD FOREST (translated from the Polish by Scotia Gilroy) - an absolutely wild ride through patriarchy and eco-feminism. Anna Frenza is the CEO of an oil company, a position she’s worked her way up to through channeling her most toxic masculine energy and refusing any kind of woke feminism. It’s not come without a price, and Anna is on a hefty dose of sleeping pills. One night, she’s caught on camera sleepwalking into the forest and getting overly friendly with a tree. It’s the start of a downward spiral for Anna, whose mind splinters, catapulting her back in time for a reckoning with patriarchy.
Shocking and chaotic, Szpila’s novel is going to garner a lot of opinions. Join us in July, tickets are available now. We can’t wait.
ICYMI: We’re switching up how the book club works a little bit — the book is now included with your ticket! Book your spot online, and we’ll pop a copy of the book aside for you to come in and collect when it’s convenient. For non-bookclubbers, it’ll still be 10% off in store for the whole month.
Classics bookclub will stay as-is; you’ll get 10% off if you pick on up in store, but we know that lots of you have these picks at home already and we love seeing all the different editions (even my accidental abridged-for-children versions, iykyk).
Proof of life!
New releases on the shelves today!
A new week! We’re here 10-5 all week and then 11-4 at the weekend before closing next week for a little break.

What’s on in June…
Three meetups for Angela O’Keefe’s Phantom Days, two for Madame Bovary, and our writing group is meeting on Saturday 20th.
You’ll find tickets for all of our events at the link in bio, or on our events highlight.
The .bne book crawl is on the 20th, with some excellent stops booked in - check their insta for details and to reserve your spot!
The bookshop will be closed mid-month (your girl needs a HOLIDAY), but our brilliant bookshop babysitters will be opening for regular hours on Friday-Sunday (12th-14th). They’ve got excellent recommendations and a hopefully useful How To guide to see them through; come say hi and test out their bookselling skills. We'll be back to normal on Friday 19th (please send Seoul recommendations if you have any!)
